Over fifteen years have passed since the conquest of the Milky Way, but it has not been peaceful. Rebel factions held over from underground alpha quadrant powers continue to disrupt life across the galaxy. Particularly well known is Garak, whose terrorist organization has widespread reach and has made him the most notorious person throughout the Empire. His greatest asset, however, is the Oracle, a seemingly-mad former Starfleet captain who claims capable of seeing the future.

But a new threat is coming from outside either galaxy that will truly test how strong the united galaxies are. The Vong, a race of warriors with biological weaponry, are establishing a foothold to begin total conquest of both galaxies. Led by their powerful war coordinator, the yammosk, some wonder if the Empire can resist this powerful force without crumbling under the weight of division.

Meanwhile, a young Sebastian Skywalker begins to take his first steps towards fulfilling the prophecy, though it seems impossible. His mother is taken ill by a Vong disease and is at death's door, needing his help to survive. And having witnessed the power his father weilds in defense of Earth, Sebastian is left wondering if he could ever live up to the legacy of his parents, and of the destiny foretold for him.
