Three years after the end of the Imperial War, the New Republic has secured complete control of their galaxy, but things are far from passive. A group called the Cult of the Emperor, led by an enigmatic unknown individual, has been conspiring to undo this effort and restore the Empire. With the growing strength of Admiral Thrawn and his delta quadrant fleet, this threat looms even among the Federation and its allies.

Compounding the confusion, the Borg suddenly change their entire means of waging war. No longer minimalistic tactical idiots, their huge fleets overwhelm even the strongest defenses, assimilating worlds and seizing control of the wormhole.
